During the later part of her time in The Wall Street Journal, she became an editor and was responsible for newsroom training programs including digital training, new hire orientation, and masterclasses for editing.

Currently, she is the managing editor for the local news network Chalkbeat since July 2019. Carrie is responsible for daily and enterprise coverage in Chalkbeat's New York, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, and Newark bureaus.

Jonathan and Carrie first met at New York Daily News where they both worked as reporters. Apart from being colleagues in the same field of journalism, the couple began to fall in love with each other. After dating for a while they decided to tie the knot.

The journalists' duo exchanged vows on September 27th, 2008 at Oratory Church of St. Boniface which is located in Brooklyn. The whole ceremony was performed by a roman catholic priest, Reverend Joel M. Warden.

Despite being involved in front of the media, Melago is quite secretive about her personal life and hasn't shared anything about her two sons. She only shares tweets related to them but without any clue on what their name is or their face.
